Day 78

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 9:33 pm

Hi,
Our regular slow pitch game again today!  Again, another beautiful evening to play.  It’s great to be able to get outside and move around and not be completely sucked dry by heat.  This has been a good summer for that!

Day 77

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 10:22 pm

Hello!
Well, I managed to sneak in two fun things today!  A pedicure and kayaking (no, not at the same place!).  If you haven’t been for a pedicure in a long time, the next time you go, ask to have some nail art!  I am now sporting two little butterflies on my toes which always make me giggle every time I look at them!  Now for the kayaking…Fort Whyte Alive is an environmental centre in the city that has all kinds of interesting outdoor activities and nature education programs.  I have been a member there for a few years now and always enjoy walking the trails and taking in their programs.  Today, I finally did one of the programs that I have been wanted to do forever – go kayaking on one of their lakes.  This is a great program because all you have to do is show up any Tuesday or Thursday evening, give a $5 donation and you can go for a kayak or a canoe ride on the lake.  It was the most perfect evening for it – even though it rained all day, it had cleared up and was nice and warm.  There were no bugs on the water and just a slight breeze so paddling was a sinch.  I paddled around for almost an hour just enjoying the quiet and watching nature all around me.  I saw two bucks walking along the edge of the lake, a couple of muskrats playing in the water, geese, ducks, kingfishers and several other birds I don’t know the names of.  What a great way to spend an hour – if you like to canoe or kayak but don’t have a lake nearby or the equipment, I highly recommend this remedy!  Check them out at http://www.fortwhyte.org/

Day 76

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 6:22 am

Hi,
I am currently reading a book called The Artist’s Way by Julia Cameron.  This book is about connecting to your creativity and it is a 12 week program that you do simply by following the book and doing the exercises she describes each week.  I have been doing this program all summer and just loving it!  Each week we are encouraged to do something called an artist date where we take a couple of hours and do something that is just for fun.  Today I took some time for an artist date and I went to Micheal’s – the huge craft supply store!  I spent a lovely hour just wandering around the store, looking at everything they had for all the different types of artists out there.  So many ideas were sparked just by looking at what they had.  It was a chance to just imagine what I could create if I wanted to and what creations would be born from those creations…ahhh, great fun for the imagination.  What do you do to give your imagination a boost?  Post your boosters here – I’d enjoy reading about them!

Day 74-75

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 6:08 am

Hello!
This weekend we took our little sailboat to the lake to finally get some sailing time this summer.  I’m not really much of a sailor – that’s my husband’s passion but I do like going to the lake.  We also had a good visit with friends that we don’t see very often because we don’t all live in Winnipeg.  We had beautiful weather and there were very few people at the lake so it was very quiet as well.  Very relaxing!

Day 73

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 9:03 pm

Hi,
Today was another great day for fun – lots of things going on today!  I started off with a meeting with my Mastermind Group.  Very creative and motivating session!  Then it was on to a brainstorming session with another colleague that resulted in some great ideas and some new collaborations too!  And to end this great, creative day – I had dinner with a friend at Earls and we were there for almost three hours!  Totally joyful day for me!

Day 72

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 7:50 pm

Hi!
Today was Tropical Tranquility day!  A friend and colleague invited a few women over in the late afternoon for some tropical drinks on the deck and seven hours later I finally dragged myself away to go home!  It was a great afternoon of conversation and getting to know several amazing women.  I had actually considered not going at one point during the week because I was having such a hectic week but this fun challenge has really helped me to see the importance of making time for fun in my day.  Plus, the women I met were fascinating and I just couldn’t bring myself to go home because I didn’t want to miss anything!  What things are you missing out on because you don’t make time for fun in your day?

Day 70

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 5:50 am

Today I took the morning off to do a few little creative projects (other than my work which I consider to be creative most of the time).  It always feels good to do something completely different from my usual activities and I find that it revives me and energizes me for my work.  What about you, do you take creative breaks? What do you do on those breaks?  I’d love to hear from you…

Day 67 – 69

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 7:17 pm

Hello!
I am combining these last three days because I was out camping for the weekend again!  I combined fun, joy and something new during the whole weekend.  We went to a campground that we had never been to before, we had great food, great weather, went for walks, spent time at the beach and playing in the water, went for bike rides and of course made a few trips for ice cream cones!  I just soaked up as much time outside as I could!  If you haven’t noticed, I really enjoy the great outdoors and any time I can spend outside reconnects me to joy.  What do you prefer?  Are you an indoor or outdoor kind of person?  Post your comments here…

Day 66

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 10:09 am

Hi,
This morning I went for a roller blade in the park (fun & joy).  What a great morning to do it – sunny, warm, very light breeze…I loved it!  I was thinking that I really love rollerblading but actually, I think its being outside on summer mornings that I love.  There is something about a warm, sunny summer morning that makes me feel fully connected to all good things – they make me feel like I’m in love with life and like anything is possible.  What is your favorite time of the day?  Do you take time to enjoy it and acknowledge it?  I’d be interested to know…
