Day 12

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 7:55 pm

Hi!
I’m back and this is the second last day of my holiday.  I did yoga this morning before food and that seems to work much better.  (BTW, I also have discovered that yoga and cerveza don’t mix either!)  Flossing seems to go with everything, though!  Have a great day!

Day 11

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 7:52 pm

Hello!
It’s Sunday and by the way – I have been away for most of this week (on vacation on the beach) and I have to say that it has definitely added an extra challenge to do this yoga everyday.  I thought it would be easier to do it on vacation but it has actually proved to be quick difficult.  Definitely supports my information about setting up your environments from a few posts back.  Not having a regular place or routine can really make your challenge more challenging!  I am noticing that the flossing is getting easier – in fact, I am feeling like something is missing if I don’t floss.  Hhmm…do I detect a habit forming?!

Day 10

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 7:48 pm

Hi!
I did my yoga after supper tonight and that was not a good idea! Yoga and a full stomach don’t work well together…will be keeping that in mind!  Flossing doesn’t seem to be affected by a full stomach though!

Day 9

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 6:48 pm

Hi!
Another morning begins with my practice and I am not finding that it is becoming a habit yet!  I guess that is why we are doing this for 100 days and not 10!I am back to flossing once today so we do not have to worry about that getting out of hand!  Hope you are all doing well.  Be sure to drop me a comment or an email to let me know how you are doing!  Keep going strong!

Day 8

Happy Valentines Day!

I have to say that doing yoga while traveling has definitely added an additional challenge to this challenge!  I did have an additional success today as one of the poses that really taxes me did not beat me today!  Yippee – I managed to hold it for the full 3 minutes!  Interestingly enough, I also flossed twice today!  Crazy!
Have a great day!

Hello and congratulations!
It has been one week since we started!  I did my yoga first thing this morning and I think it works much better to start the day with it!  Make sure that you have a little celebration to mark the first week of the challenge!
Way to go!!

Day 5

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 2:48 pm

Greetings!
Okay – I am sore!  My shoulders are sore, my back is sore, my hips are sore, my arms are sore and yes, my gums are sore.  Apparently, flossing twice a year wasn’t enough to prepare me for the 100 Day Challenge!  Never mind buns of steel – I will have gums of steel when this is over!

This leads me to my entry from a few days ago when I talked about sorting out your challenge.  These first few days of the challenge are meant to help you try it out and adjust accordingly.  If things are too much of a challenge, that’s when you may want to throw in the towel.  At this point, we haven’t been doing it for long enough to get into the habit yet so this is a good time to see if you can shift things to help you stay with it.

Yesterday I talked about setting up your environment to support you during these 100 days.  This is an important point – if you set up your environments (ie: physical, relationship, spiritual, financial, work, network, body, beliefs and nature environments) then you will have much more success than if you were trying to do this on will power alone.  Here are a few more examples of what I am talking about:

  • I am creating a space in my house to do my yoga where my mat is always set out, the props that I need are there, and I have access to music.  I have specific clothes that I wear and I keep them nearby as well.  It makes it easy for me to just come to the mat and get started.
  • If you are drinking more water –  have a waterbottle that you carry with you, fill up your bottle the night before, can you set out bottled water by the door so that you are reminded each time you leave the house to take one with you; when it warms up, you can keep several bottles in the vehicle; set a timer on your computer to ding every hour to remind you to drink; put up pictures of water where you see them all the time; get your kids to ask you at the end of each day how many glasses you have had…
  • If you are writing – have a desk or a table or a chair that is comfortable; use different colored pens to stimulate your creativity (if you are writing by hand); have lots of paper, journals or computer space to keep everything in one place; keep books by your favorite authors nearby for inspiration; join or start a writing group so that you can get support and ideas; keep all of your materials in one place and the same place so you get used to going there everyday…
  • If you are clearing clutter – set up boxes marked keep, toss, donate; find the phone numbers for the CDA or Salvation Army or Big Sisters/Big Brothers donation program and call them to schedule a pick up once a month for the next three months; set the same time everyday to sort; use a timer to help you do a little bit at a time so that you don’t get overwhelmed and end up doing nothing; ask family members to help you or do their own space everyday as well;  if you have young children, make it into a game (how many things can we get rid of in 10 minutes…)

Just a few ideas to get you thinking.  The idea is look around and create whatever you need to help you remember and make it easy to do your challenge everyday.

Also, I will be away for the next little while and will have very limited access to the internet.  I may not be able to post my progess everyday but don’t worry – I will definitely be carrying on with my challenge where ever I am!  Feel free to still check in and let me know how you are doing!

Have a great day!

Day 4

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 8:28 pm

Hi!
Well, the weekend has proven to be a good place to sort out some logistics for this challenge.  I did my yoga set this morning and I am happy to report that I shaved some time off of yesterday (not that it’s a race) so I am getting more used to it already!  The flossing is actually a little more tricky than I thought it would be.  Yesterday I ended up flossing in the car (I wasn’t driving, don’t worry!) in order to fit it into the day.  I also realized that I need to set up a better system so that I can fit these things into my day.

How does your environment support you in this challenge? Have you set things up so that it makes it easier for you to fulfill your commitment everyday?  For example, I put a calendar up in the bathroom and have a marker nearby so that everytime I am in the bathroom, I see the calendar and am reminded that I have to floss.  I also have a visual measurement of how far I’ve come.  I get satisfaction from being able to “check” things off so this calendar works well to keep me going.  This kind of system might not work for you but hopefully you get the idea.  Maybe you need to check in with a friend or have a friend or family member remind you, maybe it’s post-it notes on the milk carton…find something that works for you so that you don’t have to tax your memory with trying to remember to do this everyday.  If you have enough reminders around your environment you will find it much easier to do and eventually, it will become a habit so that you won’t need the reminders!  More on designing your environment tomorrow!

Day 3

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 4:59 pm

Hi!
It took me about an hour to do my new yoga routine this morning!  Once I get it figured out, it will take me anywhere from 15 – 40 minutes, depending on how advanced I get with the set.  That’s the key to practice – the more you do it and the more consitently you do it, the easier it gets.  That’s why everyone who is taking this challenge will be successful – you just have do this one day at a time!  ‘Til tommorow…
