Day 2

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 8:25 pm

Hi!
Today I met with the yoga instructor and owner of Source Yoga Studios in Osborne Village.  I mentioned to him last week that I was going to do yoga for my 100 Day Challenge and he asked me if I had a plan.  Well, I had kind of a loose plan … sort of…maybe a general idea… of what I might do…!He very gently (and wisely) suggested that I might want to put a plan together for what I would do so that when it came time to actually do the yoga I wouldn’t stare vacantly at my mat!  So I met with him today and he put together a very lovely routine for me to practice for the next 31 days.  Wow – do I feel great!  Except for my arms…they’re not feeling so great.  In fact, I’m finding typing this is proving to be a bit of a challenge!

My yoga instructor had a very excellent point – a plan is helpful.  As a coach, that is something I know all too well and I work with my clients to set up plans all the time.  The 100 Day Challenge is no different!  Start making some plans to help you sustain the challenge.  What kind of routine do you need to get into, what kind of supplies do you need, how much time in your schedule?  These are a few questions to get you thinking about your 100 Day Challenge plan.  And if you have any questions about your specific challenge, send me an email deb@getitdunn.ca and I’ll help you sort it out!  Now I’m off to floss!  Have a great challenge tomorrow!

Day 1

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 10:10 pm

Hello and welcome to the first day of the 100 Day Challenge!

The first thing I want to say is WOW!  I am so thrilled that so many people have decided to take the challenge!  All of you are very inspiring and I’m excited to be “challenging” with you!  As you know, my challenge is to do yoga and to floss.  I am happy to report that day one was very smooth – I did my yoga and I’m off to floss as soon as I post this entry. I decided to start with a basic sun salutation today and will eventually work my way into more challenging sets as I go along.

As you get started with the challenge please don’t worry if you are not completely sure about how you will do this or what exactly you will do.  If you haven’t decided on something yet and are still entertaining a few ideas just know that the first little while will be about honing and adjusting until you really feel like you have got it.

The other thing I want to suggest is that you think about a couple of ways that you can do a “before” and “after” measure.  Make a note of where you are starting and keep it somewhere where you will be able to find it in 100 days so that you can compare where you get to by the end.  For example, there are two poses that I can only hold for about 3 breaths before I really, really, really want to quit. I am keeping track of that and will see how long I can hold them after 100 days.

That’s it for now…thanks to everyone who has joined in the challenge.  Type to you tomorrow!

Welcome to the 100 Day Challenge!

Filed under: 100 Day Challenge — Deb @ 9:13 pm

Hello!
Welcome to my journey through the 100 Day Challenge.  In order to help me take this challenge I knew I needed to set up some systems that would hold me accountable.  I really accomplish quite a bit when I am accountable so I thought having a blog might be just the thing to assist me through the challenge.  If I know that people are checking on my progress, I am going to make darn sure that I am doing what I said I would do!

As you read on the webpage, I have decided to do yoga every day for 100 days.  At first I was going to stick to just one thing (and I would recommend that you do too) but then I also decided that I would have room for one more small change in my routine as well and that is flossing.  My dental hygienest will be so happy to hear that I am going to floss for 100 days!  (I’m sure my teeth and gums will be thrilled as well!).

I think the yoga will pose (no pun inteneded) the bigger challenge!  While I have been doing yoga for the last 3-4 years, I have never done it this regularly and I’m sure that my body will find it pretty challenging at the start!  One of the things that I enjoy about yoga is how it applies to my life when I’m not on the mat. I am planning to play a bigger game in my business this year and I think that the challenge of yoga will assist me in meeting the challenges of playing that bigger game.

So, the challenge starts on February 7th and I will be making brief entries into the blog as regularly as possible so that you can follow my progress.  If you are playing along, hopefully it will help you to continue with your challenge as well.

Have a great day!
