Day 65

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 9:03 am

Hi!
Today I treated myself to a Dairy Queen Blizzard (yummy fun)!  Dairy Queen is one of my favorite stores although I try to keep my visits to a couple of times a month!  What do you consider to be a treat for you and how often do you “treat” yourself?

Day 64

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 2:22 pm

Hi!  Today’s fun activity was giving a speech!  I am a member of Toastmasters and I am doing a story telling manual right now.  I get to stand up in front of an audience and tell stories!  I love telling stories (for any of you who know me, you would probably agree with that although you probably also wish they could be a bit shorter…!).  Today, I told a story about the time my Dad taught me to ride a two wheel bike – it was fun to relive the memory and even more fun to tell the story!  If you could tell some of your favorite stories, what would they be?  I’d love to hear about your topics!  You can post them here and if you want, I’ll post them on my blog!

Day 63

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 12:14 pm

Hello!  Today (Tuesday) I played slow pitch.  It definitely had to be for fun because we got creamed in the last inning.  Everything fell apart but we still ended with a smile!  What is your favorite sport or activity to do in the summer?  List them here…

Day 59 – 62

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 2:04 pm

Hi,
This was a whole weekend of fun and joy!  We started by heading to St. Malo – a Provincial Campground – to spend the weekend camping.  We had beautiful weather!  We spent the weekend reading, eating, riding our bikes, eating, sitting by the fire, eating, swimming and of course going for ice cream!  We even extended the weekend to include Monday!  Very restful, fun and joyful!  What is your favorite outdoor activity?  Post them here…

Day 58

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 1:52 pm

(Thursday)Okay, this was a big day of Fun!  Today was my sweetie’s birthday and so we both took the day off! We went out for breakfast, then later we went to watch the Winnipeg Goldeyes Baseball team win against the Kansas City T-Bones.  Then we had to negotiate through some crazy traffic and detours which lead us to finding a small bakery with a great carrot cake (which we bought for birthday celebrating), stopped to pick up some sushi and then ended the day by watching the Winnipeg Blue Bombers get their first win of the season in the last few seconds of the game!  Wow, what a day!  How often do you steal a day off in the middle of the week?  If you were to take a day off for yourself in the middle of the week, what would you do?  I’d love to read your comments…

Day 41 – 47

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 3:42 pm

Hi!
I have a little confession to make…I’m not sure how well I am doing with this fun challenge.  I have noticed that I don’t always start my day with the focus of “what will I do for fun today” like I wanted to.  I think I am too much of an adult in some ways and I have actually caught myself saying (to myself) “you don’t have time for fun today – you’ve got too many things to do.”  Wow – how’s that for a fun squasher?!  The scary part is that it is coming from me and no one else!  I must say, though, that this type of situation is what makes a 100 Day Challenge so very valuable.  It forces some of your old beliefs and habits to the surface where you can take a good, long look at them and decide if you really want to believe them anymore or perhaps, you can believe something else (like “I always have plenty of time for fun in my day – fun makes me healthier”).  Another valuable part of a 100 Day Challenge is that it gives you lots of time to practice!  Maybe some of my days didn’t involve much fun but I still have another 50 days to get better at having fun!  And, I have been talking with my coach about this issue too and she has been great at pointing out a few things that are not serving me so well.  Ah, who knew fun could be so challenging!!  And with that being said, here’s my week:

Day 41 – Monday – shopping trip to MEC – one of my favorite stores (after Dairy Queen of course!) (fun)
Day 42 – Tuesday – had a good friend over for supper – just the two of us and we talked for 3 1/2 hours!!(fun, joy)
Day 43 – Wednesday – played slow pitch and then drinks on the patio afterwards – lovely night for ball!(fun)
Day 44 – Thursday – I stopped and picked up a chai latte (one of my treats) and drove all the way down Wellington Crescent from Osborne Village just sipping my tea and enjoying the scenery (joy)
Day 45 – Friday – spent a blissful couple of hours playing with some creative writing and journaling (joy, fun)
Day 46 – Saturday – what were your favorite foods or treats as a child?  One of my favorite candies was Sweet Tarts – so I went out and bought some today and wow – the first one I tasted took me right back to my hometown and the candy store that I always went to on Saturdays  – yummy!  I think I’ll go get an orange popsicle next! (fun)
Day 47 – Sunday – we went to the Winnipeg Folk Festival (my very first time!) with some good friends – what a great day, out in the park, beautiful weather, good friends, good food, good music (new, fun, fun, fun!)

Day 34 – 40

Filed under: 100 Days of Fun Challenge — Deb @ 4:46 pm

Day 34 – Monday – today is my brother’s 40th birthday and he, his wife and son came to visit us from BC!  I made a big happy birthday sign and held it up for him to see as he got off the plane!  So the whole evening was fun playing with my 4 month old nephew and visiting and celebrating with my brother and sister in law!
Day 35 – Tuesday – July 1st – we started the day by going out for breakfast (I know, I said I would be more active this week!) and then later we went and took in some of the festivities at the Forks.  Everyone was too tired to go to the fireworks later!
Day 36 – Wednesday – I took some time to do some creative journaling this morning (joy) and then played slow pitch in the evening (fun) – it was a beautiful night for baseball!
Day 37 – Thursday – I went for a manicure (fun, nurturing!)
Day 38 – Friday – went for a nice walk with my mom, my aunt, my sister -in-law and my new nephew and of course, we stopped for ice cream (maple walnut, my favorite!) (fun)
Day 39 – Saturday – attended my cousin’s wedding and danced, danced, danced the night away!(Fun – yep, capital F!)
Day 40 – Sunday – listened to a podcast of Stewart Mclean’s vinyl cafe (funny), later a nice evening walk with my sweetie, brother, sister-in-law and nephew (fun)
