Sailing

Hi!
I have been away on holidays and part of our time was spent on a sailboat off the coast of Vancouver Island.  My husband loves to sail and I don’t!  At least I didn’t used to.  It scares me…actually, it’s not the sailing that scares me so much as the potential for drowning!  My husband really wants to do more sailing and since I love spending time with him I decided that it would probably help me if I could at least learn the basics of sailing.  So, we signed up for a 5 day sailing course – me the introductory course and my husband the intermediate course.  We headed out on the ocean in our 38 foot cabin crusier with our instructors and let me tell you, my stress level was through the roof most of the time.  But I gradually became more comfortable and by the end of the week I passed both the written and the practical tests!  Yay me!  I’m a sailor now…!  I have to say that my fear isn’t entirely gone and I’m not in love with sailing but I am definitely not as resistant to it as I once was.  So, maybe there is hope for me yet.  What about you?  Have you done anything that scares you lately?  It’s certainly a good way to step out of your comfort zone and to find out what you are made of!  You will be amazed at what you can accomplish!
