How do you want to feel in 2016?

Happy New Year!

Every year I pick a word or a phrase – a theme to focus my energy, thoughts and intentions on for the year.  I prefer this method over setting resolutions because, to me, resolutions are all about something that needs to be fixed.  Resolutions imply that you are not enough, that you are lacking in some way and starting your year from a place of lack doesn’t feel very good and isn’t very inspiring.

My theme for 2015 was Spaciousness.  This theme has been one of the most powerful themes I have ever used.  I applied it in all areas of my life – I scheduled more time between appointments and client meetings, I gave myself more time to run errands or drive to events and presentations, I kept my to do lists short, I had regular off-line time (daily and weekly), I didn’t check emails until after breakfast, I kept at least one hour every morning as sacred time for my meditation, journaling and prayer practice, we prepared extra food when we were cooking so that we had leftovers and less pressure at meal times on days when we worked late, I filled up with gas before I needed to, we took longer and more holidays, I took more naps, spent more time with friends….

It was a very spacious year and I feel stronger, calmer, more grounded and much happier as a result.  As I reflect back over 2015 I also feel very successful, unlike looking back and seeing all the resolutions that didn’t get achieved.

As you begin this sparkling, brand new year, give yourself some time to reflect on the past year.  What did you do well?  What were your successes?  What were your challenges and how did they help you grow?  What did you learn?  What are you leaving behind in 2015 and what are you bringing with you into 2016?  Then feel into your desires for 2016.  How do you want to feel in the coming year?  Can you create a theme around how you want to feel?

My theme for 2016 is Awaken.  I am feeling called (finally!) to come out of the “winter” that I have been in for the last two and a half years and awaken to my strengths, my creativity, my gifts and my possibilities.  Three words that describe how I want to feel during this year are radiant, clear and juicy!  2016 is going to be an interesting year!

Please share your theme with me on my Facebook page or on my blog.  I’d love to know what you want for yourself in 2016 and if there are any ways I can support you in having an amazing year.

Love,
