Your Own Cheering Section

Filed under: Reconnection — Deb @ 7:28 pm

I want to share this newsletter that I wrote in 2010 because I think it’s a nice follow-up to last month’s topic of giving yourself compliments.  Also, I am super excited to be offering a full day Way of the Happy Woman Retreat!  Registration is now open (see below) and be sure to read about the special opportunity that goes with this spring retreat.

Now, here’s the newsletter….enjoy!

What struck me the most while watching the Olympics recently was the incredible support that our Canadian athletes were getting from the crowds. There was so much excitement and the stands were always packed with cheering fans. I’m sure that put some stress on the athletes but I’ll bet that it also gave them the added energy they needed to perform at their best.

Just think what it would be like if you got out of bed in the morning and there were people cheering for you! (Forget the logistics of having a bunch of people in your bedroom and just go with me on this one for a minute!). “Yay…way to go…you’re the best…” Wouldn’t it be awesome to have your own cheering section giving you positive messages of support throughout the day? How could you not succeed when you have this kind of energy on your side?

Where do you get your own cheering section you may be wondering? First of all, you don’t need a group of people following you around (that would be cumbersome and a scheduling nightmare). Start with yourself and your very own imagination. Instead of being disgusted with yourself for forgetting the milk or running late for a meeting, give yourself a “way to go” cheer for all the things that you did do well today.

Once you have recruited yourself as your biggest fan, then start to think about others who inspire you, who believe in you and support you, no matter what happens. Then imagine that these people are always with you, cheering you on and waving banners with your name on them! In a very short time, you will be achieving more than you thought possible and more joyfully than you thought possible, all because you have been focused on doing well and on having the support you need to do well.

Let me be the first one in the crowd to say, “You’re Awesome!”

Love,

Deb
